In this interview Dave speaks openly about this, the future of Y&T, and more, speaking with host and friend for over 30 years, Steve Garland.
Dave also gives some advice to all the men who are fans of Y&T, and have avoided or put off prostate checkups. Early detection is critical to beating it.
Following this 15 minute interview, we playback our in depth one hour Y&T special with Dave, recorded in 2020, where Dave and Steve talk about growing up in the East Bay, Dave's early interest in music, and the career of Y&T, with stories behind some of Y&T's best loved songs.

I first met John Nymann in 1984 when he was in Th Eric Martin Band, he appeared with the guys several times on my radio and TV series (See slips at www.hotrockpodcast.com). From there John has had an amazing career, playing with a who's who of great bay area artists, including becoming a long time member of Y&T. Now John has released his first Solo LP "MADE IN AMERICA" on IAC Records, and available at www.iacrecords.com On this Podcast we talk to John Nymann about his long career, Y&T and The Eric Martin Band, on the road with Motley Crue, and best of all- the stories behind the songs on this new LP, an amazingly well written performed and produced album, (featuring a lot of familiar rock n roll names you know) but mostly showcasing John himself, doing a great job as lead vocalist, writer, and of course- playing a ton of guitars! A very thoughtful, intelligent, talented rocker- and amazingly nice guy to boot- That's John Nymann.
Enjoy,

It was a pleasure catching back up with Brad, we have known each other since 1982, when the band first came up to the rock station in San Francisco where I was the Nighttime DJ, they came on the air, and thanked me for playing the hell out of their album, LOL- and we have all been friends ever since. Back in the 80s while interviewing tons of rock stars as a SF Bay Area Rock Jock, I was also recording an album with my band, THE SGB. The LP "Almost" got picked up by Atlantic records, but like many bands it got shelved and the LP was lost to time. UNTIL- this past year, when the master tapes were found, remastered and finally rescued! This "Lost 80s" LP show features all the lost songs from the band, recorded 1982-1985, and features myself hosting the show, along with interviews with my co writer Denise McClure, and the amazing rock drummer Don Rodrigues. Hear the story behind the songs and some classic 80s tales of rock n roll!

I've interviewed my buddies in Night Ranger going back to the early 80s when they first came on the scene. As a rock jock in SF at the time, I was always playing singles and album cuts from Dawn Patrol, and getting to know Jack, Brad, Kelly, and Jeff Watson. They also appeared on my HOT ROCK TV show in '84 several times, and in this special we play back some of the best moments from those lost 80s interviews, as Rock in America and Sister Christian we're just getting released, and play back some of those top early songs that are now legendary Night Ranger Faves. They have a new LP called "ATBPO", learn more about it, along with the band's tour dates here: www.nightranger.com If you want more, see a mash up video of their TV appearances from the 80s with me on our Video Archives page at www.hotrockpodcast.com . Big thanks to all the guys past and present in the band for their continuing friendship that is still strong today- and the incredible music they've created that has become a big part of our rock n roll life.

Hot Rock Podcast- Lost 80s Music with THE SGB
Sunday Dec 27, 2020
Sunday Dec 27, 2020
In the 80s I was on the air in San Francisco, playing some of the best rock ever created on radio and on TV when MTV and other network music video shows like mine were cranking out all the latest rock videos. Meantime, my own band was in the studio in the 80s, writing and recording songs for an album called 1985. Although we had interest from Atlantic records, we were one of a ton of bands that had great promise but would not get our big break. So, the album sat in my vault for over 3 decades, the master tapes lost. This year, with encouragement from producer Saul Vigil and some spare time thanks to the pandemic, we finally found the master tapes! We had them digitally remastered and several are now getting a lot of airplay on streaming channels, most of all FAMOUSHITS LIVE. On this podcast, I play back a few of those lost tracks, and play a brand new song from my band recorded in 2019-2020 called "Supernatural Love" all about the times we are living in today. I think being a musician has made me a better interviewer, because I have lived a life playing music, and have a real bond with the guys in each band. Enjoy- some of these are now available on Amazon digital music and iTunes!- Steve
